Controller
Location: Roseville, CA
Salary: $150,000 - $180,000
Position Overview
An established and financially stable construction company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for month end, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and providing financial guidance to support sound business decisions.
The ideal candidate is a leader who doesn't mind being "in the weeds" and who rolls up her or his sleeves with deep construction accounting experience and the ability to partner effectively with both executive leadership and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Lead monthly and year-end close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial statements.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis.
- Direct job costing, contract billing, revenue recognition, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting.
- Monitor project performance and profitability, providing financial insight and recommendations to leadership.
- Maintain strong internal controls and coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial partners.
- Lead and develop accounting team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance financial reporting capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- Required: Significant construction accounting experience.

- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA designation.
- Experience improving financial processes, controls, and reporting systems.

Construction accounting experience is required. Candidates must have demonstrated success in a project-based construction environment with responsibility for job costing, WIP reporting, and project financial management.
